About postpone of SPCI-XII

Dear, Authors

As we are sure you already know, an outbreak of the corona virus (COVID-19) means it is very important to limit social contact directly or togetherness.

Therefore, we as the committee have made a difficult decision to postpone the “International Symposium on the Science and Processing of Cast Iron (SPCI XII)“
about one year and will be updated until conditions are more likely.

Although we know this is disappointing, we hope you can understand the steps we take to help keep all participants healthy.
Regarding the submitted abstract or paper, the SPCI XII committee will return all authorities and copyrights to original authors.
The submitted abstracts or papers can be submitted again to the SPCI XII committee until an undetermined time or the authors can send them freely to other journals without our permission and we guarantee that there will not be any restrictions from the SPCI XII committee sovereignty.

Best regards,
Kazumichi Shimizu
Chairperson of SPCI-XII

BACKGROUND AND SCOPE

The 12th International Symposium on the Science and Processing of Cast Iron follows the distinguished tradition of researchers, producers and users of cast iron together and discuss the advances in the science and processing of cast iron.

TOPICS

  • Fundamental research on metallurgy, solidification and solid state transformations of cast iron.
  • Thermo-physical and thermos-mechanical properties of cast iron.
  • Modelling and simulation of phenomena’s related to processing of cast iron.
  • Recent technologies of melting, casting, heat treatment and process control.
  • Novel developments and applications of cast iron.

VENUE

The symposium will be held in Muroran city in Hokkaido, Japan. The symposium venue is the Muroran City Lifelong Learning Center "Kiran". The word “Muroran” is derived from the Ainu word “Mo - Luerani” and means “small, downstream”.

This city has a mortar-like topography centered on the port of Muroran, and as the name implies, it is a town with many slopes. The city has a population of 84,727 and a group of plants such as Nippon Steel Co., Ltd. and Japan Steel Works Co., Ltd. are located around the port, making it a representative of Hokkaido's heavy chemical industry and port city. In addition, recently, the scenery of the factory group at night has attracted attention as a "factory night view", and with the light up of the Swan Ohashi over the Muroran port, it creates a night view as if it is inside a jewelry box.
